Bespoke Gauging

Metrology Direct offers a wide range of bespoke measuring systems. As the name suggest, these are generally tailored to suit individual customer and application needs. The solutions offered include both tactile and non-contact technology and offer very high accuracy for the industries most demanding measurement tasks.

The scope of supply includes the following elements:-

Pre-process gauging – for high accuracy applications, the dimensions of pre-machined material and blank components can be critical to the manufacturing process. Pre-process gauging systems are designed and built to deal with these important measurement requirements. Incorporating electronic probes and digital displays, these systems ensure pre-processed components are of an acceptable dimensional standard. This is particularly critical in automated applications, incorporating gantry or robot loading.

In-process gauging – generally incorporated into high accuracy grinding systems, in-process gauging combines mechanical/electronic probing systems with digital displays to accurately control the manufacturing process. Diameters and lengths are continually monitored and data fed back to the control system ensuring that the drives are stopped when nominal dimensions are reached. In process gauges are manufactured by Hommel-Movomatic in Peseux Switzerland.

Post Process gauging – incorporating electronic probes, programmable displays and in many cases gauging computers, these systems enable specific components to be gauged accurately on the shop floor. Systems are designed to meet exacting measurement criteria and many are capable of measuring work piece geometry as well as more conventional dimensional features. Post-process gauges are manufactured by Hommel-Etamic in Bayeux, France.

Air Gauging – Metrology Direct offer high accuracy Air Gauge systems manufactured by Hommel-Etamic in Bayeux, France. These systems can be built to cover many different application requirements and provide easy to use solutions to many measurement problems. The complexity of an air gauge system can vary from a basic manual system with one mandrel and an analogue/digital display, through to a fully automated system incorporating many mandrels or rings and comprehensive SPC capabilities.
